About Yidby Gold Project

A large greenstone tenement holding (38 blocks or 122km2), located on the Great Northern Highway, 40km southwest of Paynes Find in the Mid-West of Western Australia within the prolific gold producing southern portion of the Yalgoo-Singleton Greenstone Belt approximately 400km NNE of Perth.

The Project comprises three granted exploration licences with a total area of 114 km² Yidby Gold includes three recent Surefire gold discoveries:

The Yidby Gold Project is in prime gold country, surrounded by large gold deposits as follows:

Yidby is a blind gold deposit – meaning the mineralisation does not come to the surface. The gold mineralised rocks are truncated by 5m to 20m of barren transported overburden. The lack of a geochemical signature and structural clues, normally found on the surface, make exploration more difficult and explain why it has taken so long to be discovered.

METALLURGICAL TEST WORK

Surefire has commissioned 2 programs of metallurgical test work as shown below:

  1. The initial phase of was a Sighter metallurgical test. The test was performed on using Reverse Circulation (RC) cuttings, bagged samples as shown in table 1 below. Test work was completed on 3 types of gold ore, low, medium, and high-grade gold ore samples. This test work was roughly 4 months from inception to completion, it was a first pass assessment to understand the basic metallurgical characteristics of the ore. RC sample test work is cheap, the chips are already semi pulverised  – hence RC samples are not suitable for a column leach test work however RC samples are fine for understanding whether and how much of the gold is extractable.

Table 1: Samples used for the Yidby Gold Project Sighter Test Work Program – ALS Metallurgy Completed Jan 2023.

Excellent results were obtained, the final ALS report stating as below:

  1. Following on from these fantastic results, Surefire drilled 5 NQ sized diamond drillholes. The holes were purposed a) to obtain structural data and b) to provide enough ore to complete a detailed column leach test work program at ALS Metallurgy in Malaga.

The column leach test work program was initiated on the 3rd of February 2023 and is scheduled to be completed early November 2023. It seems like a long time however, like painting a house, preparation is the key. The column leach test is rigorous, takes 8 to 9 months to do properly, and requires coarse rock, like diamond core sample, (refer figure 4 below) to understand the effect of differing crush sizes on gold recovery.

The Surefire test work involved 4 phases of analysis as shown on the ALS test work chart below:

Head assay, 2) Sizing analysis 3) Percolation analysis & 4) the 70 day column leach test, with additional time and cost to calculate the grade of the residue.
